What is Engineering Technology?

At first glance, engineering technology is similar to engineering. Basic courses in mathematics
and science are the same for both. Specialized courses in engineering technology are similar to
engineering, but emphasize application more than theoretical development. Engineering
technology polishes classroom studies with hands-on, high-tech laboratories.

Engineering technology graduates work in a wide array of fields that include:
• Aircraft manufacturing
• Automatic control systems
• Computer software and hardware systems
• Electronics manufacturing
• Material fabrication
• Network applications and security
• Petrochemical production and equipment
• Semiconductor manufacturing
• Telecommunications

Our graduates receive excellent starting salaries with entry-level titles such as engineer, project
manager and technical sales specialist.

If you are interested in an exciting and rewarding industry career where people and technology
come together, engineering technology at Texas A&M University may be the place for you to
start.

Texas A&M's engineering technology program is accredited by the Technology Accreditation
Commission of the Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology in electronics
engineering technology, telecommunications engineering technology, manufacturing
engineering technology and mechanical engineering technology.
