- Rural telecommunications: the use of existing technologies and communications infrastructure to promote multimedia applications to users in rural and underserved communities in the state of Texas .

- In special, wireless technologies (e.g., cellular networks, wireless local and metropolitan area networks, and satellite links) for real-time transmission of medical applications in rural communities.
