PROBATION AND BLOCK POLICIES
MMET Program
Scholastic Deficiency

A student enrolled in the Department of Engineering Technology and Industrial Distribution is scholastically deficient when his or her:
a) semester (i.e., term) grade point ratio is less than 2.00; or
b) overall cumulative grade point ratio is less than 2.00; or
c) major field of study cumulative grade point ratio is less than 2.00

Probation Guidelines and Terms for ENTL Students
Lower level students (ENTL) must earn a 2.00 GPR in both the CBK and overall at TAMU before they can advance to upper level (ENTC).
1. Grade Point (GP) deficiency from 1 through 6 GP overall or in major = Scholastic Probation with registration block and terms of C + GP deficiency to continue.
2. GP deficiency of 7 or more = Scholastic Deficiency with registration block and terms of C + 6 to continue.
Probation Guidelines and Terms for MMET Students
1. Grade Point (GP) deficiency from 1 through 6 GP overall or in major = Scholastic Probation with registration block and terms of C + GP deficiency to continue.
2. GP deficiency of 7 to 18 GP overall or in major = Scholastic Probation with registration block, review by advisor, and terms of C + 6 to continue.
3. GP deficiency greater than 18 GP overall or in major = Scholastic Deficiency with registration block, cannot continue in MMET.
Prerequisites
Students who earn a grade lower than a C in a Common Body of Knowledge (CBK) course or a required prerequisite course must repeat the course before taking the next course in the sequence.
Academic or Behavioral Misconduct
Any student with more than one incident of a sanction assigned for academic or behavioral misconduct at any institution of higher education will not be allowed to continue in ETID.
General
Students on probation will be blocked from registration until final grades are posted.
Students who do not meet the terms of probation will not be allowed to continue in ETID.
Student’s Rights
Students placed on Scholastic Probation and registration block may appeal the decision following the procedures in the Texas A&M University Regulations, Student Rules, section on Scholastic Deficiency/Probation (http://student-rules.tamu.edu).
