Have you recently been involved in an undergraduate research experience, a significant course design project, or a capstone design project? … Share it with your peers and Tau Alpha Pi!

Tau Alpha Pi is pleased to announce their new national level competition.   As leaders in your educational program and members of Tau Alpha Pi, you have already demonstrated your capabilities and initiative.  Now is your opportunity to compete with your Tau Alpha Pi peers for an opportunity to travel to the 2009 National ASEE Conference in Austin, TX and present your work.

To compete, simply write a research paper describing a recent undergraduate research project, a significant course project, or a capstone design project for which you have made a significant contribution.  Submit your paper through your Chapter’s Faculty Advisor no later than March 13th, 2009.  If you are selected as one of the top four papers, you will be invited to the 2009 National ASEE Conference to present your work and have an additional opportunity to be named the top Tau Alpha Pi student paper of 2009.

Alternatively, you may write a research paper or an innovative proposal for improving the undergraduate experience that addresses the impact of globalization on your education, experiences, and/or future professional life.  If you choose this option, ASEE will also consider you for a student travel stipend to attend the 8th ASEE Global Colloquium in Budapest, Hungary (a maximum of one stipend will be given).  Suggestions on how a paper might address globalization include topics such as:

·         How globalization has or should impact the education process.

·         How globalization has affected the student’s personal or professional life.

·         A discussion of one or more global experiences of the student and its impact of the student’s future plans.

·         How the student believes that globalization will impact his or her future professional careers.

·         How globalization will impact the design of products or services.
