Industrial Distribution Program Recruits at High Schools in Texas

The Industrial Distribution Recruiting Team (IDRT) and Ms. Carmen Schumacher, Academic Advisor visited many high schools this semester to introduce Industrial Distribution to the students. With a mission of recruiting more high school students to the Industrial Distribution (ID) Program, the IDRT team made many visits to high schools in Texas.  In Spring 2009 the team visited Katy HS, Magnolia HS, and New Braunfels HS.  Due to their effort, the freshmen enrollment numbers in the ID program have been increasing consistently  from year to year.
The IDRT team has also been actively recruiting graduating seniors with Phone-A-Thon; a program designed to personally contact seniors by phone about the ID Program. These students are chosen from a list of students who have been accepted into the Texas A&M Engineering program, but have yet to classify a major or department.
With a busy calendar this semester, it was not hard for the recruiting team to fit in some hard work at Aggieland Saturday. Aggieland Saturday is a campus wide one day event for High School students to introduce Texas A&M and its programs. With student volunteers from all classifications, the ID program reached out to hundreds of students in just one day.
With hard work and a conscious effort from all those involved, the Industrial Distribution Program is geared up for the fall semester where all the work will begin again.
