IEEE-ComSoc 2008-09
                This year IEEE-ComSoc welcomed a new faculty advisor, Dr. Ana Goulart.  In addition, Dr. John Fike continues to support the organization as a secondary advisor.   ComSoc had several meetings this year with a good turnout of students. One of the meetings was sponsored by ONCOR where the role of communications in the energy and utilities sector was discussed.  ONCOR went into detail about several interesting topics such as SmartGrid and Broadband over Power Lines. In April, ComSoc hosted their semi-annual   driving range BBQ at the Bryan Golf Range preceding the IEEE-Tech Golf Classic.  The attendance was amazing and everyone had a great time socializing. At the beginning of next semester, ComSoc will be hosting their annual WIREFEST event in conjunction with IEEE Tech where the organization sells Ethernet cables to dorm room students.  The event in the main fundraiser for the year and provides funds for all ComSoc events.  Finally, new officer elections will be held on May 6th.
